WALTHAM, Mass., September 30, 2026 — BVI, a leading global ophthalmic device company, today announced the continued European rollout of Virtuoso to the vitreoretinal community following its successful commercial launch at the 2026 European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Congress. The expansion coincides with the platform’s presentation at the 2026 EURETINA Congress in Vienna.

Virtuoso is BVI’s next-generation dual-function surgical platform, designed to support both cataract and vitreoretinal procedures. Developed in close collaboration with surgeons, the system combines Velvet Vitrectomy Probe, Equality Fluidics Control, EvenFlow Automatic FAX, inVITe Valved Entry System and EasyFit All At Once Setup to address the evolving demands of modern posterior segment surgery while providing the flexibility of a single integrated platform.

At the center of the platform is Velvet Vitrectomy Probe, featuring Dual Pneumatic drive and dual blade technology designed to deliver precise and consistent cutting quality across all cut rates, efficient vitreous aspiration and controlled tissue management during posterior segment surgery. Complementing the system is Equality Fluidics Control, BVI’s proprietary intraocular pressure management technology designed to actively maintain target IOP throughout all stages of vitreoretinal procedures to support stable intraoperative fluidics.

Virtuoso also incorporates EvenFlow Automatic FAX, providing automated fluid-air exchange with machine-controlled IOP management during surgical media exchanges. The platform also features inVITe Valved Entry System with one step entry, enduring valve sealing for IOP stability and removable valve capability, while EasyFit All-at-Once Setup further streamlines operating room preparation, helping reduce setup time and improve procedural consistency.

The continued European rollout follows Virtuoso’s CE Mark certification under the European Union Medical Device Regulation and its commercial launch at ESCRS 2026. At EURETINA, retina specialists will be experiencing the platform through hands-on demonstrations, integrated wet labs and peer-to-peer clinical discussions focused on the future of vitreoretinal surgery.
