Nicole Fram, MD

Dr. Nicole Fram is a board-certified, fellowship-trained and nationally recognized ophthalmologist specializing in refractive and complex cataract surgery; laser and lens based refractive surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, corneal transplantation and external disease. She is the managing partner of Advanced Vision Care in Los Angeles, CA and adjunct associate professor for the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah. She completed her residency as co-chief resident at Wills Eye Hospital, followed by a fellowship in cornea, refractive and external disease from UCSF Francis I. Proctor Foundation. Academically, she has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters published in in the areas of cataract and corneal disease. She served as the past chair of the Cataract Subcommittee, American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) serving as secretary on the Executive Committee and editor of the Cataract Consultation Section for the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (JCRS). Dr. Fram lectures nationally and internationally and enjoys teaching innovative surgical techniques to colleagues, residents and fellows.

Sumit (Sam) Garg, MD

Dr. Sumit (Sam) Garg is Vice Chair of Clinical Ophthalmology, Medical Director, and Professor of Cataract, Refractive, External Disease, and Corneal Surgery at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, University of California, Irvine. He is an active researcher, lecturer, and educator, with numerous presentations at national and international meetings, and is the author of multiple peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and surgical textbooks. Dr. Garg serves on the Executive Board of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), is Chief Medical Editor for EyeWorld, and holds advisory roles with the National Keratoconus Foundation and Beyond Blindness. He has received ongoing recognition from Best Doctors, Super Doctors, and the Orange County Medical Association, and was named one of Ocular Surgery News’ Premier 300 Refractive Cataract Surgeons. Dr. Garg is also a member of the International Intraocular Implant Club (IIIC) and has particular expertise in refractive cataract surgery, ocular surface disease, and advanced corneal procedures including PKP, DSEK, DMEK, and crosslinking.

Nathan M. Radcliffe, MD

Dr. Nathan M. Radcliffe is a glaucoma and cataract surgeon and serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He previously held roles as Glaucoma Service Director at both Weill Cornell Medicine and NYU/Bellevue Hospital. An early adopter and innovator in microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), Dr. Radcliffe was the inaugural course director for MIGS at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He currently serves as Chair of the Glaucoma Clinical Committee for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and is the Chief Medical Editor of Glaucoma Physician.

Firas Rahhal, MD

Dr. Firas Rahhal is a Senior Partner at Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group in Los Angeles and serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine. He is Co-Director of the Combined USC–RVA Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship and a Founder and General Partner at ExSight Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on innovative treatments and diagnostics in ophthalmology. Dr. Rahhal has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has served as principal investigator in over 200 ophthalmology clinical trials. He also acts as a scientific advisor to multiple companies in the field. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Cornell University Medical Center and a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and uveitis at UCSD Medical Center.

Vance Thompson, MD

Dr. Vance Thompson is an internationally recognized specialist in refractive corneal surgery, phakic IOLs, and lens replacement procedures. He is the Founder and Director of Refractive Surgery at Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, SD, which has expanded to nine locations serving the Mid- and Mountain West regions. Dr. Thompson also serves as a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Sanford USD School of Medicine. As a leading international researcher, he has played a pivotal role in the development of advanced technologies and techniques in laser and implant vision correction, serving as medical monitor or principal investigator in over 130 FDA-monitored clinical trials. He is the immediate Past President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the International Intraocular Implant Club (IIIC) as Vice President. In addition to publishing numerous papers and book chapters, Dr. Thompson is co-author of the textbook Refractive Surgery and has taught advanced laser and implant techniques to thousands of surgeons around the world.

George O. Waring IV, MD, FACS

Dr. George O. Waring IV is the Founder and Medical Director of the Waring Vision Institute in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He has served as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Refractive Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Storm Eye Institute, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine. A diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Waring serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Journal of Refractive Surgery, and sits on the executive committees of both the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery. He has received numerous awards and honors for excellence in lens and refractive surgery, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Secretariat Award and Senior Achievement Award, the prestigious Lans Award for innovation in refractive surgery, and the Presidential Award from the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Robert J. Weinstock, MD

Dr. Robert J. Weinstock is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in advanced cataract and refractive surgery. Over the past 20 years, he has performed more than 50,000 procedures and is widely recognized as a leading surgeon, innovator, and educator in the field. He is the Medical Director of The Eye Institute of West Florida, Regional Medical Director for EyeCare Partners, and Fellowship Director of the Cataract and Refractive Surgery program at The Eye Institute of West Florida. Alongside his father, Dr. Stephen M. Weinstock, he helped build one of the largest ophthalmology practices in the U.S., with six locations and two surgery centers. Dr. Weinstock has led advancements in technologies such as microincisional surgery, laser-assisted cataract surgery, and 3D heads-up digital surgery. He is Co-Chief Medical Editor of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today, serves on several editorial boards, and is a board member of the American-European College of Eye Surgeons. He has authored over 200 publications, contributed to 10 book chapters, and delivered more than 500 international lectures.
